SARAH GETS STRONG: A CROSSFIT/PALEO LOVE AFFAIR *

Looking for something?
Type & search here! (e.g., recipe)

My name is Sarah and I'm a once-skinny-kid macaroni-eating-swimmer now dangerously turned on to CrossFit, Paleo nutrition and overall badass-ness.

I am training as a first time participant for CrossFit's 2011 Sectional Qualifier and, through this, hope to increase my physical strength and (otherwise absent) mental fortitude. No more frustration during WODs. No more "I can't". I will stop being good at one thing, and become great at everything.

Join me on my journey to greatness!

Inflammation a Celebration (i.e., the weekend cheat-a-thon)

(also today’s post for AlbanyCrossFit.com— check it out!)

Yes—- it’s exactly what it sounds like— that is, another fun filled weekend of Jamby learning her lesson via a hands on (or, gastrointestinal) experience.

I’m talking a full on, all out, weekend of (GASP!) pasta, cake, and alcohol.

Do I regret it? No, because I don’t regret any decision I have ever made (and neither should you).

Was it necessary? No, not really—but sometimes we have to do un-necessary things to help remind us why we were so disciplined and health conscious in the first place.  Sometimes, the aftermath of eating badly motivates us even more than before to stay strict.

Did this happen in my case? Absolutely.
Did I have a strict foundation of clean eating before doing this? Absolutely.

I knew I would not, COULD not, regress back into a non-Paleo/Paleo-Zone lifestyle because I have been strict for a long time. This iskey, folks. Bread, pasta, gluten, etc, have not been a staple in my diet for almost a year now and I do not get “cravings” for such. I am not easily tempted by it and can therefore say “NO” when it it’s offered (I mean, unless it’s cheesecake or a nacho platter… in that case…).

After reading countless scientific studies about the association between inflammation and gluten, wheat, grain, processed carbs, etc, it should be clear just how violating to your health all of this garbage truly is.

**DISCLAIMERIf you are just starting Paleo, I advise you NOT to cheat for at least 1 month—- and, even after 1 cheat meal, to immediately hop back onto the Paleo bandwagon (but, you knew this already… right?).
