Article: "Study shows blueberries may help fight atherosclerosis."
This stuff is so interesting.
DISCLAIMER: More importantly, and because of such reasons, I believe that every individual has a personal responsibility to research and learn about the protective properties of whole, unprocessed foods (i.e., vegetables, fruit, nuts, spices, meat, etc) as to maintain internal wellness and only using medication as a last resort. I understand that some people are so genetically inclined to experiencing physical ailments (such as athersclerosis) and that blueberries, alone, may not be enough for prevention. I am also not a Dr. (yet).
For everyone else, however, don’t be lazy fools.
MOVING ON:
I know I’ve briefly covered some benefits of blueberries in an earlier post— this article (click the title link above to view), however, executes a scientific study illustrating evidence that this berry may protect against atherosclerosis:
-
“The study compared the size, or area, of atherosclerotic lesions in 30 young laboratory mice. Half of the animals were fed diets spiked with freeze-dried blueberry powder for 20 weeks; the diet of the other mice did not contain the berry powder.
Lesion size, measured at two sites on aorta (arteries leading from the heart), was 39 and 58 percent less than that of lesions in mice whose diet did not contain blueberry powder.”
