Article: "Think skinny people don’t get type 2 diabetes? Think again."
A-HA! Challenging mainstream beliefs, once again. It’s almost as bad as people believing that a low-fat diet is more beneficial for losing weight & maintenance of health as compared to low-carb.I couldn’t be more passionate about another topic. Diabetes, obesity, insulin resistance, inflammation, paleolithic nutrition vs. processed-garbage, etc.. I could read about this stuff all day long.
This article really exemplifies what I have always thought and tried to illustrate through blog posts (see my “CrossFit Chronicles of the Skinny Girl” posts via Albany CrossFit.com — Part I and Part II) and, additionally, is DEFINITELY worth reading. It provides awesome scientific evidence which I am a huge fan of (I was a Bio major in undergrad and the whole, “I need proof” thing never went away) as well as coherent explanations portraying why lean people may develop type II diabetes.
Shown below is an excerpt form the article listing the potential causes for Type II Diabetes in lean patients:

- Genetics
