My name is Sarah and I'm a once-skinny-kid macaroni-eating-swimmer now dangerously turned on to CrossFit, Paleo nutrition and overall badass-ness.

I am training as a first time participant for CrossFit's 2011 Sectional Qualifier and, through this, hope to increase my physical strength and (otherwise absent) mental fortitude. No more frustration during WODs. No more "I can't". I will stop being good at one thing, and become great at everything.

Join me on my journey to greatness!

Fall Face-Off WODs, experiences, and the aftermath

First, a review of the WODs completed:

WOD 1 — Prowler Time Trials

  • I’m sorry.. did you say prowler?! What other way  to introduce an Albany Crossfit style competition than use the FREAKING prowler! Unfortunately, the prowler and I have yet to share a positive experience with one another.. until this event.
This was a 100m dash relay with all 4 team members utilizing both the high and low bars. My team came in 4th place! My performance and experience in this event was actually not bad.. in fact, it was a lot of fun. The prowler actually turned me on.

    Time: 46.33 sec

WOD 2 — Max lbs ground to overhead in 7min + Max reps 24” box-jump in 7min

  • The clean and jerk is where I lost my focus. Never have I ever tried to achieve a 1RM in front of a crowd.. and because of this, I freaked. Gotta work on that. In this WOD, I was able to hit 120lbs— but my previous best is 125. And I KNOW I could do more.. Stay tuned, America..

WOD 3 — 12min AMRAP of 200m sprints

  • This was incredible. Definitely a confidence booster. Who knew I could run.. for real?

    Total: 24 laps

WOD 4CHIPPER with 50 reps of each movement, 2 movements per team member:

95lb/65lb Snatch, 125lb/95lb backsquat, 95lb/65lb overhead squat, 125lb, 95lb front squat, burpees, ringdips, toes-to-bar, chest-to-bar pullups —> 25min time cap

  • Honest effort! Unfortunately, our team couldn’t finish. We got to the toes-to-bar, and then, dunzo. We did, however, do an amazing job getting through what we could. With only one movement remaining and a 25min time cap, I thought we all did a fabulous job, nonetheless. In regards to the movements, I executed the burpees and was going to do the chest-to-bar pullups. Maybe next time.. ;)

    Place: 14th out of 41

Almost a week post Face-Off and I can’t stop thinking about it.

My endorphins haven’t stopped flowing and my motivation is on hyperdrive. Thankfully, TOMORROW is the WARRIOR DASH and next Sunday is Fight Gone Bad V! Can’t wait!

The fun doesn’t seem to stop, does it? :)
